FIRE, ICE AND CANNABIS

FIRE, ICE AND CANNABIS

For the fourth episode of Gaia Gossip On The Move podcast, Maren met Pórunn Pórs Jonsdottir aka (Tóta), during the 2nd Icelandic Hemp Conference in October 2024.

Tota has been an activist and relentless fighter for the plant to holistically heal humanity and Mother Earth.

Tóta has been a passionate advocate for the holistic use of hemp, dedicated to its potential to heal both humanity and the Earth. Iceland, though a popular travel destination, presents significant challenges to everyday life, with its unpredictable weather shifting through four seasons in a single day. Situated at 66 degrees latitude north, growing food or sustaining a liveable environment in such conditions is no easy feat.

Following a dynamic two-day conference focused on hemp and cannabis, Maren had the opportunity to explore the stunning Westfjords alongside Tóta. They visited a one-of-a-kind indoor hemp facility tucked between a rugged fjord, icy waters, and a towering glacier—a truly remote corner of the world.

As the conference unfolded, Iceland’s government experienced a sudden upheaval, an event that could have significant implications for the future of hemp and cannabis in the country.

Join us as we welcome Tóta to the show and dive into these intriguing experiences from Iceland!

Host Maren Krings is a Climate Impact Storyteller who uses her skills and credentials in photography, filmmaking, content writing, and keynote speaking to communicate the potential of hemp for climate resilience and social justice.

Gaia Gossip Welcomes Jane Wynne 11am MOUNTAIN time

The new and improved Her Many Voices Livestream. In which we bring you up to speed on our current projects & connect you with other groups and people to learn and get involved.

Jane Wynne, is one of the stewards of the Wynne Farm Ecological Reserve in Kenscoff haiti, a private conservation initiative serving the community. She combined her Sociology major from Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass. with her father’s friendly environmental practices sharing the mission of protecting nature and its resources for the benefit of all. Jane has worked with women’s groups and has led different environmental projects with schools by the support of international institutions. By working with the community and travelling around the countryside as a tourist guide she gained a holistic perspective of the society. Her focus in life is finding an incentive to help farmers save the soil, rebuild it and plant food trees , firewood crops and bamboo in order to build resilience to the impact of climate change and to have a better livelihood. Her wish is that her immediate and enlarged family will pass on the legacy of protecting Wynne Farm that is just one piece of the puzzle of our Planet Earth.
